Two ex-smokers who kicked the nicotine habit are now on a mission to help others do the same through a new shop.

Sisters Louise Johnson and Nicola Johnstone have opened the village’s first electronic cigarette shop in Longridge, near Preston.

Neither of us smoke them now and we found it was quite easy to come off them entirely. And we’ve been able to help people to stop who have smoked for 30 or 40 years.

It follows their success with a similar venture in Preston’s Fishergate which they opened two years ago.

Both are mums of young children and had decided when they were pregnant and on maternity leave to give up what was chiefly “social smoking”.

They discovered how successful e-cigarettes were.

Nicola said: “Neither of us smoke them now and we found it was quite easy to come off them entirely. And we’ve been able to help people to stop who have smoked for 30 or 40 years.

“They found using electronic cigarettes with their different flavours worked so successfully for them.

“They have some nicotine in them, but there is nothing of the harmful effects of traditional cigarettes in them – we should know!”.

Their decision to open in Longridge was also motivated by the fact that some of their Preston customers came from Chipping and Garstang.

Now situated in the Stonebridge complex of businesses, the sisters say: “We are still growing and this site is in an excellent position.”

They took over a former sandwich bar and, with the help of husbands Damien and Lee, they have transformed it into a bright, white and welcoming interior.

When first planning their new venture, the sisters researched the business and products, and decided that on the sales side, they would run a strict “no under 18’s” policy.
