As a semi-professional player for Bamber Bridge FC, Jimmy King always went out on the pitch to help win promotion.
Now he has achieved a similar goal, with a rise through the ranks of a leading Lancashire accountancy company.
The 34-year-old, who hails from Chorley, has been promoted to the post of associate director at business advisory and accountancy firm, Pierce Group, one of Lancashire’s longest-established accountancy businesses.
The former left-winger-turned full-back made over 300 appearances in non-league football.
He joined the team at Pierce in 2002, having graduated from Liverpool University with a degree in Economics.
Training with the company, he qualified as a chartered accountant in 2006 and since then has developed specialist experience in the fields of technical audits, financial reporting and Trust work.
Educated at Holy Cross High School, Chorley, Jimmy gained A-levels at Runshaw College, Leyland, before securing a place at Liverpool University.
He also studied for a year in the USA at the University of Cincinnati in the state of Ohio.
He is married, with two young children and now lives in Weeton, near Blackpool.
In his spare time he maintains a keen interest in sport of all kinds.
In the new post, Jimmy will maintain a portfolio of clients in general practice, work on compliance issues with the Pierce Group Board at the company’s Blackburn headquarters.
He said he was looking forward to continuing to work with clients in addition to supervising a range of large audit assignments.
