A Lancashire village pub has been ranked 28th best in the UK at the 2014 Top 50 Gastro Pub Awards.
Last year, the Freemasons at Wiswell, near Clitheroe, was awarded 37th position at the event, jumping an impressive nine places in just one year.
Chef-owner Steven Smith, pictured, has shown determination to progress through his evolving menu and creative flair, which has been acknowledged with the higher position.
Along with receiving the highest ranked position in the North West from the Top 50 Gastro Pub Awards, the Freemasons is also the only pub to be included in The Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants at number 83.
Set in the quaint village of Wiswell, The Freemasons has become a beacon to experts, locals and tourists alike. With a homely, yet stylish interior the restaurant sets out to “provide the ultimate gastronomic experience.”
Steven said; “I’m thrilled with the result; I always aim to do a little better, year on year. If I achieve that, then that’s the best reward.
“It’s extremely fulfilling to see the changes I’ve made recognised in this way.”
