Chorley-based furniture logistics specialist Andrew Porter Limited has secured a new contract to deliver comprehensive logistics provision to Blackpool’s Chelsom Furniture, including warehousing, route planning and retail deliveries.
The manufacturer of fine dining and occasional furniture has appointed Andrew Porter as its outsourced supply chain management provider – a function which was previously undertaken in-house.
Andrew Porter will provide warehousing at its purpose-built facility on Huyton Road, Adlington, as well as routing and planning of deliveries for Chelsom, which is headquartered on Clifton Road, Blackpool.
The firm will carry out approximately 250 deliveries to independent and multinational retailers throughout the UK and Ireland each week.
Director of furniture at Chelsom, Mike Ledger, said the firm chose Andrew Porter following a recommendation. He said: “We have had several meetings with the team and visited Andrew Porter Limited’s headquarters to view the warehousing facilities first hand.
“The company’s industry knowledge, forward thinking attitude and the high standard of facilities impressed us a great deal.
“It is also very useful from our point of view to be able to have ‘pay as you use’ warehousing and logistics terms. We have enjoyed a great start to the relationship, with deliveries being completed over the last four weeks now.”
Managing director of Andrew Porter Limited, Tim Aspey, commented: “We are delighted to be working with Chelsom.
“We are proud to have such a large number of long-standing customers and we hope this will be the start of yet another long-running working relationship.”
