Fertiliser deal sends firm global
A Lancashire biotech firm has signed a deal to double the global reach of products it believes can help feed the world.
Plant Impact has extended its deal with Japanese science group Arysta to sell its products to 52 countries across North America, Central and Latin America, Europe, Africa and the Far East.
It already had a contract with its partner, which allows it exclusivity on the products, to sell its InCa, Balance and Cocoa Stress Tolerance products to 24 countries.
Chief executive Peter Blezard said the deal would boost the potential for the products to be sold across the globe.
He said: "Agriculture is challenged to feed the world during a time when the population is increasing and natural resources are decreasing.
"We firmly believe that new science and technologies that are sustainable, environmentally safe, which increase crop marketable yield and yet are able to decrease wastage and conserve natural resources are the way forward.
"Plant Impact has such science and with this agreement our company has significantly expanded its route to market."
The group, which has its head office at South Rings, near Bamber Bridge, said on Monday it would also significantly increase the number of field trials of its products with Arysta.
It is planning 350 field trials over the next 12 to 18 months, taking the total number of field trials to 500.
