Preston residents should expect a letter from Preston City Council’s Electoral Registration Officer in the coming weeks, explaining a new registration system.
Each of the 100,000 people in the city will now be responsible for registering themselves instead of the old Victorian system where the “head of household” registered everyone living in a property.
Lorraine Norris, Preston City Council’s Electoral Registration Officer, said: “Preston residents will receive a letter around the 23rd and 31st July that will explain the change to the electoral registration system.
“Look out for the letter as it will tell you if you have been automatically transferred to the new register or not.
If you have not been transferred, you will need to provide some additional information and the letter will tell you exactly what you need to do.”
Contact 01772 906908 if you do not receive a letter.
