Lancaster-based digital and hosting agency Nublue has been shortlisted in the Living Wage Champion Awards for the North West region.
It is one of five candidates in the running for the award in the region, and the only technology company to make the line up.
The award recognises businesses who have gone above and beyond to help promote the Living Wage.
Currently set at £7.85 /hour in the UK (outside of London), it is calculated according to the basic cost of living using the ‘Minimum Income Standard’ for the UK.
Michael Ashworth, managing director of Nublue said: “Offering at least the Living Wage allows our employees to spend and put back into the local community, which in turn will help to boost our local economy.
“If more local businesses get on board with the Living Wage, this could have a great positive effect on Lancaster’s own economy. We are delighted to have been shortlisted and hope that the work we have done to promote the accreditation will encourage more businesses to join us as Living Wage Employers.”
Since being accredited with the award in August, Nublue has tried to encourage other local businesses to get on board, producing an infographic resource detailing the business benefits that paying the Living Wage can have on all businesses. Recently, the Mayor of Lancaster also visited its city offices to present the award and find out more.
