The Lancashire-based design team at the Frank Whittle Partnership has completed the refurbishment of one of the Lake District’s best known hotels.

The Inn on the Square in Keswick, formerly The Queens Hotel, has opened its doors to guests following the major renovation and renewal project.

Preston-based FWP created the complete new look for the hotel after it became the latest member of the Lake District Hotels family in April last year.

The refurbishment, which has taken 12 months to complete, combines strong elements of Scandinavian design with Cumbrian culture.

The hotel has 34 modern bedrooms, a redesigned lounge bar, and its new Brossen steakhouse and it is set to be the first four-star property in Keswick.

And guests can choose from two different room types created by the FWP team – Herdwick and Town View.

The Herdwick rooms feature one wall dedicated to the Lake District’s famous breed of sheep.

The Town View rooms face onto the square outside with views of the countryside in the background.

FWP worked closely with the hotel group owners Kit and Charles Graves and marketing director Dani Hope on the project to transform the old Queens Hotel.

David Simmons, Associate Partner and Interior Designer at FWP, said: “The look and feel of the hotel takes its inspiration from the family’s trips to visit relatives in Copenhagen along with some fabulous Lake District icons.”
