Construction consultancy the Frank Whittle Partnership and charity the AFC Fylde Community Foundation are joining together to bring grass roots sports to young people in Lancashire.
FWP, which is based in Preston, has signed a deal to become the charity’s official sports camp partner for the next two years.
The partnership will allow the foundation, created by ambitious non-league football club AFC Fylde, to grow and enhance the sports camps it delivers throughout its local area and beyond.
The sports camps give boys and girls from all backgrounds the chance to take part in sports and recreational activities. At the moment the foundation delivers four across the Fylde.
One of the biggest architecture and project management practices in the North West, FWP has a strong track record of supporting and backing grass roots sports, including sponsoring a number of talented Lancashire youngsters.
FWP also has a strong track record of designing and delivering innovative community sports projects.
Its team designed the masterplan for the £18 million mixed-use sports and leisure development near Kirkham which will become the new home for AFC Fylde and recently won planning consent.
David Robinson, managing partner at FWP, said: “Our partnership with The AFC Fylde Community Foundation will help give more youngsters in the area the chance to take part in sports activities.
“We are very pleased to be involved in that project. The sports camps the foundation runs are second to none and give boys and girls from all backgrounds a fantastic opportunity to get involved in a whole host of activities.
Community Foundation Director Tom Hutton described FWP’s involvement as “fantastic”.
