Blackpool Airport owners 'bucking trend'
Construction giant Balfour Beatty which owns Blackpool Airport has said its building division had improved performance.
The group, which has a 12.8 billion order book, reported on Friday that it had outstripped last year's figures despite facing many tougher battles for land contracts.
It bucked a "more competitive" environment to report "steady" UK trading and a stronger showing in the US helped by new deals and acquisitions.
Despite flagging markets in parts of its UK rail business, the firm has made good progress on a host of road projects and began work in May on a major 6.2 billion scheme to widen the M25 motorway.
Balfour Beatty bought a 95% stake in Blackpool International Airport's through its investment and development group, Regional and City Airports, for 14m last year.
