A Preston man has reason to be cheerful as he cooks up a storm at a hotel in the city.

Aidan Cowell, from Ashton, has landed a job in the food and beverage team at the Legacy Preston International Hotel having impressed management during a development programme run by The Prince’s Trust.

The 21-year-old took part in a series of cooking masterclasses hosted by the Marsh Lane hotel as part of a 12-week personal development course run by Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, which delivers The Prince’s Trust Team programme in Preston.

The programme includes team building, planning and executing a fundraising project, work placements, career planning and a team challenge. The hotel joined forces with The Prince’s Trust last year, and was so impressed by Aidan they offered him a job.

Aidan joined the Prince’s Trust programme having gone through a difficult time in which he lost his confidence.

He said: “The programme was a fantastic experience which helped me no end, and I particularly enjoyed the days at the hotel, so I was obviously really pleased to be given the opportunity to join the team. I’m loving work here.”

Phil Dunn, general manager at the Legacy Preston Hotel, said “Aidan is a fantastic addition to our team and we congratulate him and the other members of Preston Team 55 for their fantastic achievements.”

The team is going to be honoured at an awards ceremony in Manchester next week.
