A foodies' paradise comes to city

Today is a foodies' paradise in Preston.

The month-long Love Food Love Preston campaign has now been officially launched.

It starts with the Lancashire Market, on Friargate between 10am and 5pm, and moves on with ‘Dine with the Stars’ later tonight.

The Lancashire Market offers visitors to Preston the chance to purchase specially created Lancashire produce directly from the manufacturers.

The event, which began in 2010, regularly sees thousands of visitors descend, who are hungry to sample local delicacies and street food, alongside browsing the craft and gift stalls and family attractions.

Later, Masterchef’s Gregg Wallace and Emmerdale actor Danny Miller will visit Preston’s restaurants to join diners for a bite to eat.

Here’s where they will be: Gregg 6.55pm Tinos, 7.50pm Angelo’s, 8.40pm Villa Italian, 9.20pm EastzEast.

Mark Whittle from Preston BID said: “No tickets are required, simply make a reservation to dine at one of the restaurants advertised and you could be lucky enough to have one of our guests join you”.

Preston Bus has reminded travellers that Friargate itself will be closed to vehicles between the junction with Ringway and the Adelphi Roundabout, from 0300 to at least 2100.

Services will divert via Ringway and Corporation Street (outbound from the bus station), and via Walker Street, Lawson St and the Tenterfield St underpass (inbound to the bus station).

Preston Bus has apologised for any inconvenience caused .
