The Space Centre in Preston has been given a cash boost from a group of kind-hearted Brownies.

The 2nd Lostock Hall St James Brownies raised more than £500 for the centre in Pedders Lane, Ashton.

The group held a series of events to raise the money for the organisation.

Those events included a competition to see how many coins they could get in a small pot, brought in clothes to be weighed in to raise funds and took part in a sponsored torchlight walk.

A spokesman for the Brownies group said: “They have all thoroughly enjoyed this community challenge project.”

The group visited the Space Centre to hand over a cheque for £536.31 and had a look around the centre to help them understand what they had raise money for.

The Space Centre is currently trying to raise more than £130,000 to kit out one of its multi-sensory rooms, Space 2.
