Bridal shop closure causes heartbreak
A Preston mum has told how the sudden closure of a wedding shop has left her two young daughters without bridesmaids' dresses for her big day.
Kelly Bradbury paid nearly 280 to Pronuptia in Friargate as a deposit for three bridesmaids' dresses for her daughters Amy, 13, and Kelly, 17, plus her sister Sarah, 27.
She only learned the store had closed down after reading about it in the Lancashire Evening Post last week.
Kelly, 25, of Parkfield Drive, Lea, says she will struggle to afford replacement dresses ahead of her wedding next year to fiance Andy Bate, who had Amy and Kelly with a previous partner.
She said: "It's been an absolute nightmare.
"When I told Amy what had happened, she said, 'You're joking.'
"She has been upset and can't believe it or understand it.
"My sister had come all the way down from Newcastle to try the dress on. Now we've got to start again.
"I work part-time in Greggs and 280 is a lot of money. We had been saving up to buy them.
"I just don't know where to go from here."
Kye Yates, 27, and his partner Sarah Longworth, 24, have also been affected by the closure, after placing a 255 deposit for bridesmaids' dresses.
Police worker Kye, of Darwen, said: "We're only a young couple and that was my savings.
"Now I've got to find another 250 from somewhere."
Anastasia bridal shop in Leyland is the latest store to offer its help to brides in need.
It stocks Serenity, a label sought after by some brides who had ordered at Pronuptia.
The shop can be contacted on 01772 459182.
