The opening of Preston’s Christmas market has been delayed due to the strong winds that are currently battering the North West.
The market and ice rink that is based on the Flag Market was due to open at 5.30pm on Thursday but because of the weather Preston City Council have had to postpone the opening until Saturday November 21.
A spokesperson on behalf of Preston City Council and Preston Business Improvement District said: “Unfortunately the wild winds you may have noticed sweeping through Preston are causing delays to the set up for the Lancashire Christmas Market and ice rink and they will not be ready to open Thursday night as planned.
“The new opening time is now Saturday November 21 at 10am.
“Sorry for the inconvenience but we blame Hurricane Barney.”
