Police are appealing for a vulnerable new mum to come forward after a worker found what is believed to be a human placenta and umbilical cord in Preston cemetery.

Officers were called to the cemetery on New Hall Lane just before 9.30am on Friday where the placenta was found.

Testing revealed the organ is human.

They are now appealing for the mum to come forward or seek medical attention and are concerned for the health and well being of mother and baby.
