Boy, 14, charged over girl stabbing

A schoolboy is due to appear in court after being charged in connection with a knife attack on a 17-year-old girl in Preston.

Police charged the 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, with wounding shortly before 6pm on Sunday.

The teenager, from the Ingol area, is due to appear before Preston Youth Court on Monday morning.

The girl was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital but was being transferred to Blackpool Victoria on Saturday morning, police said.

It is understood she had received a number of wounds.

She was taken suffering from a suspected collapsed lung and her condition has improved.

Police cordoned off the junction of Sylvancroft and Tanterton Hall Road to allow forensic examinations to take place.

At 1.30pm on Saturday a section of Tanterton Hall Road, between Tag Lane and Sylvancroft remained taped off and a number of police vehicles were at the scene.
