Both drivers involved in a two car crash on Penwortham bypass have now died.

At the time of the crash at 10.15am on Wednesday morning, Lancashire Fire Service described the injuries as ‘serious’ but both drivers have now passed away two days after the accident.

The man, who was driving a Vauxhall Vectra, died this morning and has been named by police as Nigel Hardman, 48, from Preston

The woman, who passed away on Thursday evening from her injuries at Royal Preston Hospital, has been named by police as Wendy Wall, 51, from Penwortham.

The crash left both drivers trapped in the two cars. They were then rescued by the fire service using a hearth kit and taken to hospital by ambulance.

The injuries were described as ‘serious’ at the time of the crash by police and the incident caused long delays throughout the day.
