Booklet helps you keep well in winter

Residents across central Lancashire are to receive a comprehensive health guide delivered direct to their homes to help them stay well throughout the winter period.

The Choose Well booklet will be delivered to around 200,000 homes from December 1 and contains advice on how to access the most appropriate advice and treatment at a time when health services are under pressure.

The booklet also features tips on how to keep well during the winter months, and highlights helpline numbers for financial support with fuel bills and home insulation schemes.

It also features a pocket-sized information card with details about how to access advice outside office hours.

Dr Steve Ward, NHS Central Lancashire medical director, said: "Choosing the right service ensures that you get the best possible treatment.

"It also allows the services that are most in demand over the holiday period to help those most in need.

"Quite often there is no need to see a GP with common winter illnesses, as pharmacists can give helpful advice and recommend appropriate medication without the need for a prescription."
