A body that was found on St Annes beach on Monday has been identified as a missing man from Preston.
He has been named as 51-year-old Martin Lucas, who disappeared from his home address on Fishergate Hill, Preston, on March 22 where it is believed he left the address during the night.
Officers were called after a body was discovered on the sand opposite Beach Road, St Annes at around 8am on Monday. The body was recovered and has today been confirmed to be Martin Lucas.
His family have been informed.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed to HM Coroner.
Insp Richard Terry of Preston Police said: “This is sad news for the family who I hope can find some comfort in the tremendous support that has come from members of the public, family and friends in trying to help us find Martin.
“My thoughts are with Martin’s family, who have also done everything they can to assist us in finding him.
“Thanks to everyone who has helped us with our enquiries.”
