Despite being less than halfway through his six marathon challenge, Ben Ashcroft, has smashed the half-way point of his fundraising target.
With two marathons down out of his six, Ben’s total has now reached the £6,000 mark and the dad of three from Broadgate, Preston who is living with bowel cancers can’t believe it.
He said: “I absolutely can’t believe the amount of money we have raised this far.
“When I began this crazy challenge, I was thinking it would be incredible if we raised just a few grand, and now so many people have come forward to support me I feel really blessed.
He continued: “Knowing that my running is helping to raise money for charities I really believe in, has kept me going and kept me getting outside on the mornings when I feel like my treatment side effects are getting the better of me”
The 35-year-old completed the Blackpool Marathon in five hours, 30 minutes in April and the Windermere marathon in May in six hours and 30 minutes.
And Ben is currently resting up after his latest fortnightly dose of chemotherapy.
He said: “On the June 29 I will be taking on my third marathon in Wakefield, I’m really looking forward to getting out there and pushing myself again, all my family will be there to cheer me on and keep me going.”
Ben continues to raise money for CLIC Sargent, Beating Bowel Cancer, Macmillan and Rosemere Cancer Care.
