A website is helping women in the North West avoid rogue romeos by enabling them to check out men they meet online before they hook up in person.
The service launched by 192.com allows lonely hearts to find out whether their potential partner is who he claims to be – and not married with five kids.
It has become available after a poll commissioned by the website revealed high rates of deception – with one in five people in the North West admitting to having concealed their identity.
Background reports shed light on a person’s details in seconds so a woman doesn’t come face to face with Mr Wrong instead of Mr Right.
One in five people in the North West said they sometimes conceal their identity in everyday life.
And 16 per cent said telling a lie to succeed in a job interview was justifiable.
