Lancashire Trading Standards Service has produced a list of things to look out for to avoid being conned over Christmas.

They include bogus websites, auction websites offering fake or unavailable goods, and spam email links and attachments. The list warns of fake holiday offers and anonymous e-cards, as well as social networking scams and charity scams. It also warns against transferring money and insecure online payments. Janice Hanson, Lancashire County Council’s cabinet member for public protection and waste said: “If a cheap deal looks too good to be true, then it’s almost certainly a scam.”
