Author Deborah Swift will be a VIP in her home village when she opens Warton Annual Fair next Saturday in aid of the charity North West Cancer Research.
Deborah, who has published several historical novels, as well as Past Encounters written under the pen name Davina Blake, will be guest of honour at the event in the village hall (2pm).
“North West Cancer Research is a fantastic charity and does remarkable research which benefits countless people in the North West,” said Deborah.
“The fair is a chance to show my support for something that will help scientists working in the North West and be of great benefit to the community at large.
“Having watched friends undergo painful treatment for various cancers, I’m convinced that prevention and understanding of cancer can be best furthered by research into exactly what it is and what causes these changes within the body.”
Entry to the event costs £1 and includes tea and homemade cakes. Tickets are available from Dorothy Bateman on 01524 732 152 or on the door.
