Arrests after brawl at bus station in Lancashire

Police have arrested five youths after a mass brawl at Preston bus station.

Police were initially called just before 3.25pm on Tuesday to reports that a group of six youths were verbally abusing a mother and her child in the Iceland store.

A group of around 20 Asian and white youths were then spotted brawling at the bus station just minutes later.

Police arrested five youths at the scene with a spokesman saying further arrests are expected.

It is not believed anyone was injured in the incident.

Police patrols were at the bus station and city centre area following the incident.

Peter Bell, managing director of Preston Bus, said there was some trouble with a group of youths which was dealt with quickly by bus station security and police.

He added: "It's very rare we have any trouble in the bus station nowadays.

"We have bus station security, CCTV and we have CCTV on all our vehicles. If there's any problems we can deal with it very quickly."
