Police are appealing for information after a man was reported to be “acting suspiciously” at a Preston shopping centre.

They received a report that the man was taking photographs of exit points at Fishergate Shopping Centre on Saturday, November 14.

CCTV images of the man have been released by the police and officers want to speak to him in connection with their enquiries.

He was described as being white, 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build and with stubble.

He was wearing a dark woolly hat and a dark jacket or body warmer and was carrying a green rucksack.

Det Ch Insp Jill Johnston, from Preston CID, said: “While we have no reason to believe there was anything sinister behind the man’s actions, we are keen to speak to him so that we can understand what he was doing in the city centre and establish why he was taking pictures.

“In light of the current threat level, it is important that all reports of this nature are investigated thoroughly so that we can minimise any risk to the public.

“At this stage we do not believe this matter is linked to the incendiary device found at the shopping centre last month.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting log LC-20160108-0627.
