Crime news

Police in Preston are appealing for information after a 22-year-old woman was approached by a gang of men.

At about 5pm on Friday July 18, the woman was walking down Church Street, where she was grabbed by the waist and cornered by a group of about seven or eight Asian men outside Evoque nightclub.

They spoke to her in a foreign language, suggestively pointing at parts of her body. She asked them to let her go.

A member of the public then intervened, also asking the men to let the woman go. PC Nick Mattock from Preston Police said: “Although this woman wasn’t physically assaulted she has been left understandably shaken by this incident.” Anyone who saw the incident, or a group of Asian men in the area at the time, is urged to contact police on 101.
