Police are appealing for information after a collision in which an 82 year old woman later died.
The collision took place at around 7.40pm on Thursday 28 August at the junction of Victoria Road West, Thornton and the Crescent.
It is believed that a white Vauxhall Astra van has been in collision with two pedestrians as they crossed at a controlled crossing.
An off-duty nurse gave first aid to the pedestrians at the scene before they were taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
A 51 year old man from Fleetwood suffered minor injuries to his head and is expected to make a full recovery.
Anne Peoples, 82, from Fleetwood, suffered a broken hip and leg after the collision and sadly died during the early hours of Friday morning.
Family members have said: “We would like to pay tribute to a loving mother, sister, nan and great nan.
“Anne will be sadly missed by all who knew her.”
Sergeant Jon Allwright of the Western Road Policing Team said: “I am asking for witnesses to this accident to come forward, so we can have a full understanding of the circumstances that have led to the death of this lady.
“We have spoken with the driver of the white van and they have given us a formal account of the incident.
“Our heartfelt thanks go to those who stopped to assist, however it is a sad indictment on our society as to the number of people who felt it was appropriate or right to film this poor lady as she lay in agony on the floor, and we would ask them to consider their actions and reasons for them.
“I have assigned a specially trained officer to deal with the family of the lady. The matter has been referred to the Coroner and ultimately to the CPS. At this stage there have been no arrests.”
Anyone with information should contact Lancashire Police on 101 quoting log number 1219 of Thursday, August 28th or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
