There was an instant connection when Adam Walsh and Chelsea Braithwaite first met at a party as teenagers.

They talked all night and met the following day for a walk along the river when Adam asked a shy and blushing Chelsea to be his girlfriend.

The love was sealed there and then and the couple’s romance blossomed into an engagement at that exact spot by the river in March 2015.

Adam, from Whalley, and Chelsea, from Sabden, tied the knot at Higher Trapp Country House on a sunny January day surrounded by family and friends.

Chelesea, a student, said: “When Adam asked me to marry him I had woken up to a hand-written message saying, “Morning beautiful, here is my card, buy something nice, I’m taking you out for dinner”.

“He has always been one to spoil me so didn’t even think twice about the message. But when we drove I started getting suspicious.

“There aren’t restaurants around here, I thought – but the place where he asked me to be his girlfriend was.

“We pulled up and walked down the country lane, by the river, hand in hand.

“And then I saw ‘our’ picnic bench – with candle light, bottle of prosecco and of course, Adam down on one knee.”

On the morning of their wedding, Chelsea and the girls peeked at Adam, who’s a groundworker, and the ushers from their hotel window to see how handsome they all looked as their magical day began to unfold.

Chelsea said: “I walked down the aisle to Beautiful Girl by Inxs, a song that my dad used to sing to me as a little girl.

“I thought it was a fitting song for a father to give his daughter away to.

“We began walking and Adam was stood there, already bright red in the face and crying – with happiness I hope!

“The whole room was in floods of tears, it was a magical moment.

“Our son Oscar was supposed to walk down the aisle with the wedding rings but instead decided it was the perfect time to take a nap!

“We laughed, smiled and danced all evening with our family and friends, the day couldn’t have been any better.”
