Police were called out this afternoon after concerns over a toddler found in the grounds of a school.

Officers from Preston were alerted at around 1.45pm following concerns for the three-year-old boy in Penwortham.

Staff at Kingsfold Primary School in Martin Field Road had contacted officers after finding the boy in the school grounds.

It is believed he had wandered out of a nearby domestic property.

Police had earlier said it was believed he had climbed over the school gates to get in.

The boy was identified and his family contacted. He was returned to them safe and well.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “The child has now been reunited with his grandparents.”
