Alastair voted out at final hurdle of TV dance contest
A ballet dancer who narrowly missed out on winning a TV talent show said he was not giving up his bid for stardom.
Farmer's son Alastair Postlethwaite described his time on So You Think You Can Dance as "lifechanging" and today said he has already been approached by agents in London.
The 28-year-old, from Tarleton, near Preston, crashed out in the semi-final of the BBC1 show on Saturday, after losing the dance off to favourite Robbie White.
Alastair's performances were shredded by judges Arlene Phillips and 'Nasty' Nigel Lythgoe who dumped him after the TV audience voted street dancer Tommy Franzen through to the final.
He said: "At the end of the day, it's just TV so you have got to take it with a pinch of salt.
"A lot of things people say are just for shock value or entertainment.
"I never thought I would get this far. Even my family didn't think I would get this far!
"And the things I am going to get out of the show are brilliant so it was worth all the effort.
"I have already been approached by agents in London wanting to take me on so something is definitely going to come out of this for me."
And he admits he'd never heard of either of the judges who slated him until he went on the show.
He laughs: "I didn't know who Arlene Phillips was before this show, or Nigel Lythgoe either!
"But to go on there and know that I was in front of all those viewers at home, that was the most amazing thing.
"These opportunities don't come along often and I've never done anything before like this in my life. It's absolutely life changing."
He is back on our screens this week as So You Think You Can Dance plans to reunite all the top 14 contestants to perform solo routines as part of the Grand Final on Saturday.
Alastair said: "I'm really looking forward to coming back. I'm incredibly lucky to have been on every show."
After that, he'll be back to Tarleton – and the family is planning to throw a big party with a special performance from Alastair to thank everyone who supported him.
He said: "I haven't been told exactly what is being planned but I know there's something going on.
"I can't wait to come home and just say thank you to everyone.
"They've all been amazing."
