A finance expert who was born in Preston has become a Sheriff of the City of London.
Adrian Waddingham CBE will spend the next 12 months as a non-Aldermanic Sheriff and he will live in the Old Bailey for his year of office.
The father-of-three is one of two people to hold the year long position and his duties will include overseeing the smooth-running of the Old Bailey, and ensure the comfort of the judges based there.
The Sheriffs will also assist the Lord Mayor in her official duties. The main object of the Lord Mayor and the Sheriffs is to promote London’s financial services at home and abroad.
Mr Waddingham was born in Preston before attending Mount St Mary’s College in Yorkshire and Royal Holloway College at the University of London.
He trained as an actuary in Liverpool and became a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 1975.
In 1987 he became a Liveryman and served as Master Actuary in 2009/2010.
