A Chorley man faces a £340 bill for dropping a cigarette end.
Robert Durnan, 27, of Stratford Road, pleaded guilty by letter and was fined £70, ordered to pay £250 costs and a £20 victim surcharge by Chorley magistrates.
He was seen smoking a cigarette while walking towards a parked Fiat 500 car parked on Portland Street car park. He dropped the cigarette as he got into the passenger seat and put on his seatbelt making no attempt to find a bin or pick up the cigarette. He received a fixed penalty notice for littering which he failed to pay.
The maximum penalty is £75, however he need only have paid £50 if he had made payment within 10 days.
