A rogue market trader sold fake designer goods to unsuspecting shoppers.
Haroon Asmal, of Oxford Street in Frenchwood, Preston, was caught out when Trading Standards inspectors paid a visit to his stall at Foxhall Market, Blackpool, and became suspicious because his named brands were so cheap.

Asmal, 27, pleaded guilty
to 11 offences of selling goods with a false trademark.

He was bailed until January 9 by Blackpool magistrates for pre-sentence reports.

Lee Petrak, prosecuting for Blackpool Council's trading standards department, said officers were making a routine check of the Dale Street market on April 7 this year.

They went to Asmal's store where he was trading under the name H and A Weather Wear. Clothes with brand names such as Rockport, Nike, Fred Perry, Lacoste and Armani were on sale.

Mr Petrak said: "When questioned, Asmal said a trading standards officer, who he would not name, knew he was selling counterfeit goods, but was turning a blind eye in return for information."

Officers returned to Asmal's store on May 12 and seized 16 bags of clothing and sent 120 items for analysis. All proved to be fakes, apart from one pair of Nike shorts.
