Detectives are hunting robbers who stamped on a young woman's foot and snatched a potentially lethal prescription drug from her.
The two men, both believed to be white, approached the 29-year-old from behind as she walked past the bus stop opposite Broad Oak School on Pope Lane in Penwortham, Lancashire, at around 9.40am on Tuesday.
The woman, who lives in Penwortham, had p
icked up the prescription for Warfarin, a blood-thinning medication, from a nearby chemist moments earlier.
The men tried to pull her green army-style satchel from her but she resisted them. One of the men then stamped on her foot, leaving it bruised.
They then ran away across the road and were almost struck by a green Vauxhall Astra which had ladders on the roof.
Police are appealing for the driver and any other witnesses to come forward.
DS John Cass, of South Ribble CID, said: "The woman has been left very shaken and is obviously concerned at the missing medication because of the dangers that could arise.
"We believe the driver of the Astra may be able to help us, as could any passers-by.
"It is not clear what quanitity of the drug was taken but it was a full prescription.
"There was also small amount of cash in the bag and a library card."
Warfarin, an anticoagulant used to treat complications like blood clots, can interact with many commonly-used painkillers. A possible side-effect is haemorrhaging.
Both men's faces were covered. The first was around 5ft, white and wore a dark hooded jacket with goggles in the hood and black tracksuit bottoms.
The second wore similar clothing and had a scarf covering his face.
Anyone with information on the street robbery should call South Ribble CID on 01772 412947, Southern Communications on 0845 1 253545 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
