Teengaer charged with robbery
A teenager has been charged with robbery following an incident at a convenience store.
Gary Brade, 18, of St George's Road in Preston, was also charged with possession of an imitation firearm and breach of an ASBO.
The charges relate to an incident at the Spar store in Poplar Avenue, Bamber Bridge, near Preston, last Wednesday.
Christmas lights switch-on date revealed
The date of the city's Christmas lights switch-on has been revealed.
Thousands of people will gather on the Flag Market on Wednesday November 19.
The identity of the celebrity line-up is still to be confirmed.
Last year, the event hit the headlines when pantomime actor Paul Danan swore on stage.
Large-scale search ends well
A large-scale search was launched in Preston for a missing woman.
The police helicopter was drafted in to help search for the missing 52-year-old Alzheimer's sufferer on Sunday afternoon.
It was called off at 5.40pm after an hour when the woman was found safe and well.
Last week to register children for school
Parents have less than a week to apply for secondary school places for their children.
The admission process closes on Friday while there are less than four weeks to apply for primary school places for their offspring.
Parents can also apply online for places at www.lancashire.gov.uk
The deadline for primary school admissions is Friday November 7.
Man admits drug supply
A Preston man has been remanded in custody after admitting supplying heroin.
Blackpool Magistrates Court heard how Mark Williams, 39, of Ribble Road, sold the Class A drugs to undercover police officers in Blackpool in May.
He was caught as part of Lancashire Police's Operation Nimrod.
Williams, after pleading guilty to four counts of supplying heroin, was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Preston Crown Court for sentencing on November 6.
Poetry and book festival
A poetry and book festival is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary in Lancashire.
Litfest will be held at Lancaster's Dukes Theatre from October 29 to November 1 and will feature a wide range of work, from British novels to international poetry.
