Residents in an area of Preston blighted by drugs, prostitution and car crime have moved a step closer to having CCTV installed.
Neighbours claim Meadow Street and nearby roads in Deepdale have suffered anti-social behaviour from drinkers, drug dealers and street-based sex workers for years.
Residents are hoping two new CCTV cameras being installed to cover Meadow Street and nearby roads will thwart such activity in the neighbourhood.
A partnership of neighbours, police, and the Greater Deepdale Community Association scooped around £30,000 funding from neighbourhood management board Prime Focus to bring in the two cameras.
The scheme hit problems over who would take responsibility for the cameras but housing association Eavesbrook Housing has now offered to be custodian for just 1p per year, linking them in with their existing system.
Marie Englishby, of Prime Focus, said: "I am confident these cameras will have a positive effect on the community by reducing anti-social behaviour in the area and once they are up it will be worth all of the hard work by residents and partner agencies. Credit must be given for the commitment and stamina of everyone involved."
A 56-year-old resident, who asked not to be named, said: "We have suffered these problems for around 15 years. We believe the CCTV will put off prostitutes and kerb crawlers from using the area as well as street drug dealers.
"Two boys were approached by a drug dealer in the park at the top of East View last weekend. They were only 12. If this had happened when the cameras were installed, police would more than likely catch him on film."
