Young footballers are plaguing a group of Jehovah's Witnesses at their place of worship.
Youths have clashed with worshippers at Kingdom Hall, off Eastway, Fulwood, after being spotted going into the car park to play football, climbing on to the roof, throwing stones at cars and even threatening to stab a member of the congregation, although no knife was seen.

Now, appalled members of the Sharoe Green PACT group have made tackling the issue a priority this month.

Elder of the hall, Tony Collinson, said: "A lot of youths live on the surrounding estate and climb our gates to get into the car park to play football. We don't get a lot of trouble during meetings but on occasions people have been threatened.

"There is lots of open space at the back of the estate and we would simply ask that they use that area to play.

"We have had drainpipes damaged and stones thrown at cars."

He said a crime prevention officer had visited to give the group tips on improving security.

Community beat manager for Sharoe Green, Denise Hanson, said: "The main issue is children playing football. Things have a got a little heated when they have been asked to leave.

"The kids don't think they are doing anything wrong but some damage has been caused. We don't want things to get out of hand. There are open spaces like Sherwood Park that could be used."

The next meeting of Sharoe Green Police and Community Together group (PACT) is at St Clare's School, Sharoe Green Lane, on Wednesday at 7pm.

These PACT meetings are a joke i attended one and the whole meeting is just a slag off the local youth debate no real what can we do to solve this problem. The kids these days are that bored the only thing they find fun is causing trouble, People need to realise the days off kids playing hide and seek and ring a ring a roses are gone. These lads people love football so why dont we give them something proper to use the field mentioned above is horrendous with bumps, holes in the ground Every year all we hear is kids playing football kids being abusive to residents well ive heard how some residents speak to the local youth and if they spoke to me like that i would tell them to **** off aswell lets stop moaning and start acting to solve the problems off bored teenagers.

Why is it that time and time again we hear the excuse that kids THESE days have nothing to do? Im only 30 and even when i was a teenager there wasnt loads and loads of things to do, but we found things to do without causing mayhem and im sure even older generations than myself will agree. If anything there is even MORE for kids to do these days with youth clubs and groups and also a much bigger choice of social entertainment such as leisure centres, bowling, cinema etc etc which im sure they can afford as kids get more spending money than they ever did before and think nothing of sppending £100 on trainers or £10 on a bug of skunk. The fact is that its all just an excuse and you could provide them with the best community facilities or clubs or whatever and they will just smash up the place or abuse the staff who would work for free to help them.

ok i understand both dvdaspden and kubiss comments
and sorry but you both make good points
when i lived on callon the youths names proceded them and i was a little worried about bringing up my newborn child there
but i treated them as i would like to be treated with respect and as young adults
they in turn treated me with the same respect i never had any problems at all
on the other hand my eldest daughter lives on grisedale moor nook and is now 15, every week when she comes to stay with me in leyland where i now live she complains about the other youths defacing/breaking etc anything that the comunity tries to give them as their own
so im sorry but there are good and bad kids everywhere
you could give the local kids the earth and some would still spoil it for others

dvdaspden one thing i would say is your agressive direct attacks on anothers views on a public posting forum is prob one of the factors causing the problems we have today
you as(i assume an adult) find it fitting to attack another adult in the way you have in public .........well we cant blame our children for following suit can we realy with role models as they have today

step down from your soap box and smell the coffee

Very Concerned you know what maybe i was a bit over the top there it just annoys me that people are so blinded sometimes i personally think the older teenagers 15-16 we should target them actually ask what they think would improve and not all of them would help but im sure the vast majority if something was being made out to be given to them they would stop the younger generation from damaging it.

I lived on callon kept my self to my self and had my car torched house robbed and was harassed off the estate by certain youths whose mother's would watch these so called hero's playfootball against my windows throw stones at my windows and cctv never helped either as a member of the local housing office was in my home when said problems happened one time and they was shocked at what i had to put up with!!Thankfully i moved and i now live on moor nook and had not one problem but thats not to say there is no problems but show me a part of the city that does'nt.My view is give the police more powers to deal with kids & their parents, name & shame them fine the parents and see how fast the kids step in line then.Discipline need's to be stepped up in school's rather than what the children's human right's have got to say what about the human right's of the teachers who get abused!!!!
