A LANCASHIRE paedophile who sparked a manhunt when he fled to Ireland has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
Child sex offender Alexander Dalgleish, 36, was arrested in Donegal on Monday night after allegedly damaging the camera of a photographer at a boat race.

Dalgleish was jailed for a year in Preston in May last year for moving to Ireland without telling police following his release from a previous prison term when he was placed on the Sex Offenders' Register.

He had been tracked down in Donegal in November 2006 after his photo appeared in the Evening Post and on a "most wanted" list on the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre website. He was arrested after a member of the public turned him in.

Former DJ Dalgleish, who used to live in Hesketh Bank, had been released half way through his nine-month prison sentence for unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl and indecent assault on another 13-year-old girl.

He then fled to Ireland without telling police he had changed his address and used different names as he travelled around.

On his return to this country he was jailed, but went back to Donegal on his release.

Dalgleish was photographed by a local newspaper in Donegal on Sunday when the alleged criminal damage offence occurred. He has been bailed to September 3.
