City centre residents have been warned to be on their guard for suspected bogus fire officers offering safety checks.
A man who lives in Lancaster Road North became suspicious when a man and a woman, who said they were fire prevention officers, knocked on his door on Wednesday afternoon.
He invited them into his home to look around but they began to act strangely and left. Lancashire Fire and Rescue and the Community Gateway Association, said the pair were not working for them.
