Furious residents have vowed to speak up over the controversial decision to move the Royal Lancashire Show to north Preston.
Traffic arrangements for the annual show, which will take place at a 300 acre quarry site in Myerscough between July 18 and 20, will be discussed at next Tuesday's Preston Council rural area forum.

Wyre Council gave the go-ahead for the move in January, prompting fury from residents and traders on the A6 through Barton, Bilsborrow and Broughton.

Up to 60,000 people are expected, meaning huge snarl-ups which will plunge motorways into chaos too, campaigners say.

The meeting, at Barton Village Hall from 7pm, will allow worried locals to question police and Lancashire County Council, who have drawn up a traffic plan for the event.Wyre Council has declined an offer to attend the meeting.

Keith McKernan, of the No2DuchyPark campaign group, lives alongside the A6 at Barton. He said: "We have seen the draft of what is now the third version of the traffic plan and some very serious objections still remain as well as figures which have not been produced.

"The traffic management plan should have been resolved before planning permission was given."

The plan to move the Royal Lancashire Show has been dogged by controversy since it was announced last year.

Then the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Society's website advertised the event as being held in Myerscough and even gave directions to the site – before Wyre Council had taken its decision,

The meeting will give residents more information about traffic and transport arrangements, including measures such as temporary traffic lights, suggested routes and car parking.
