An armed raider targeted two Lancashire off licences in 35 minutes.
The man, who was wearing a balaclava and was armed with a hammer, burst into the Tipsy Toad off licence in Liverpool Road, Longton, at 8.05pm on Thursday and demanded money.

But police said he fled after a store manager emerged from a back room.
Then, at 8.40pm, it is believed the same man went to the Londis store in Manor Lane, Penwortham, this time armed with a knife, and demanded cash from the till. He was refused and again fled on foot.
Police are currently searching the two areas and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Insp Kevin Otter, Lancaster police's force incident manager, said: "We think they are connected. We are looking for witnesses to both and are asking anyone who saw anything in the areas to come forward."
The offender is described as 5ft 6in to 5ft 8in tall and white with a slim build. He was wearing jeans, a black top and a balaclava.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 08451 253545 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
