Preston is seventh safest in the country for burglaries because all the scum who would normally be out stealing our hard-earned possessions are busy lurking on street corners waiting to kick seven bells out of anyone unfortunate enough to pass by.

If Preston is in the Top Ten safest towns, God help every other town in the UK.

Do the people who conduct these surveys ever read the papers?

Or do they simply get their statistics from local police who seem to be in denial about the crime rate.

They seem to work on the assumption that if they tell the public everything's OK for long enough, in the end this ridiculous distortion of the truth will eventually become fact.

Do YOU feel safe in Preston? I certainly don't.

I feel safe in Preston. Or at least, as safe as I do anywhere else in the country. Which is fairly safe. You just have to keep your eyes open.

Hello Barnfarm.

Tell me that again after you've been for a walk in the park and been mugged at knifepoint. Tell me how you can keep your eyes on 15 hoodies all at the same time.

Then tell me how much better you feel when the police officer dealing with the case says "Thankfully these incidents are rare..." before giving you your crime reference number and introducing you to victim support.

You're not safe. You're just lucky.

Precisely the same figure spinning will have taken place in every town surveyed, which means that if Preston is in the top ten it is there on merit. Which isn't to say it is safe. But nowhere is 100% safe. What I said was I FELT as safe here as anywhere else in the country. And a whole lot safer than some places.

Safest. come again, I was stabbed in Preston on a so called quiet estate. The only reason Preston is one the safest Towns, is because its a city. Does this mean Endliegh Insurance Premiums will be low in Preston, or is Preston a City it has a lack of customers in. I never understand why Insurance companies do these reports apart from its a way of sucking in the public.

I for one can't believe these stats - figures on burglary and theft does not mean safe - Safe to me means can my kids walk back from school or take the dog for a walk in the early evening without the threat of abuse or violence, can I walk the streets at night in Preston or its suburbs without constantly being on edge, (there are few places you can, but many you can't), can I report abuse, verbal or physical, and know the culprits will stop their persecution of others as the penalties will act as deterrent or will the same rubbish be spouted that the streets are safe, it's just our perception of the fear that's wrong.

We moved out of Preston because of all these factors having been burgled and had my car damaged, my kids threatened and generally our lives were made a nightmare by the mindless few who terrorise neighbourhoods. You read of the assaults on an almost daily basis, but that I guess in the eyes of those is something we should not be frightened of, was it not just the other week that Church Street was described as the most dangerous street in Lancashire!!!!

not being cynical (lol) but I just wondered if Endsleigh Home Insurance study has any connection with local estate agents? Im sure they wouldnt think to put a bit of spin on it to help local house prices!!
