Detectives have stepped up the hunt for a man who raped a 42-year-old woman in a Preston park.
The victim, who had been befriended by her pot-bellied attacker in the Last Orders pub in Church Street, was slapped across the face and dragged into Avenham Park where she was subjected to a sickening assault.

But despite the release of clear CCTV images of the man, who is thought to use prostitutes in the city, frustrated officers have not had a single call about the case.

Det Insp Dave McKenna, of Preston Police, said: "The CCTV images are very good quality - someone must know who he is.

"We suspect he is local, drinks in the city centre and is likely to be a regular at a city centre pub.

"We appeal to the man in the CCTV footage to hand himself in."

The victim was dragged to a wooded area of the park and knocked to the ground.

It is believed the man halted his vile attack, which occurred at around 9.30pm on Thursday, after he saw a motorist's headlights.

The woman managed to run to Preston railway station where she raised the alarm.

The attacker is in his late 30s or early 40s and is 5ft 6in tall.
He is bald and had a long face, wore a distinctive black leather waist-length bomber jacket and dark blue jeans.

He had a "beer belly" and was a smoker.

The jacket had two pockets and a red lining. He wore a white football shirt beneath it.

Anyone with information should call Preston Police on 01772 203203 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
