Detectives are appealing for witnesses to a horror plunge after a woman fell 50ft from the fourth floor of a Preston tower block.
The 29-year-old survived the 50ft fall from a balcony at Richmond House in Avenham, but is in intensive care in the Royal Preston Hospital.

She is said to be stable.

The woman is understood to have been in the flat with a man, who lives there, when she climbed onto the balcony.

It is thought she slipped while trying to lower herself onto the balcony below, at around 11.35pm on Tuesday night.

Police are not treating the incident as suspicious but are asking anyone who spotted the incident to contact them.

Det Insp Ian Dawson, of Preston Police, said: "We need to know if anyone saw the incident going on and appeal to anyone who knows anything to contact us as soon as possible.

"We are hoping to speak to her later."

The incident came a month after a man plunged to his death from the fourth floor of historic Centenary Mill, a flats complex, in Fishwick.

Alex McCulloch, 20, plunged 50ft after losing his footing on August 2.
Anyone with information on Tuesday's incident should call Preston Police on 01772 203203 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
