A PA announcer could be in trouble with Preston North End football fans after denying them the chance to welcome back former captain Graham Alexander who is now at Burnley.
Both PNE and Burnley fans flooded a radio phone-in on Saturday complaining Deepdale PA man Adam Catterall, a North End supporter, only read out the names of the Preston team as they entered the pitch before Saturday's derby clash.

North End's 2-1 win was the first time former captain Graham Alexander had played at Deepdale since his transfer to Turf Moor in August, with many home fans wanting to give him a standing ovation.

But Ben Rhodes, PNE's general manager, said the Rock FM Breakfast Show presenter had done nothing different to any other home game.

He said: "He always read the away team out first then the home team after they have come out.

"He did it exactly the same way as they always do."

Catterall has faced the FA before after making a controversial comment about referee Uriah Rennie over the PA in 2006.

Must admit we couldn't remember hearing the Burnley squad read out & commented on it at the time . Graham still go a well deserved ovation . Think Adam Catterall gets above himself sometimes !!

Are people deaf????!!!!!!

Catts read out the full Burnley line-up dead fast to avoid their fans cheering then said and i quote,

"And let's welcome him back to his truie home, Captaining Burnely today, Graham Alexander!!!!"

People supporting PNE are begining to wind me up something chronic. Not happy unless they are moaning.

Adam Catterall is brilliant , didn't do any thing wrong on Saturday. What is it with fans' ringing a local radio station, it has nothing to do with them.

He did say that Tom, i think Adam Catterall is really funny the way he reads the away teams names out fast. No pleasing some people.

People really should read things as they are written & not be so aggressive . The comment is as it was . I have nothing against Adam Cotterill & listen to his show every day & find him funny & entertaining . Cannot believe that so many people have misread the comment . In future I shall keep my thoughts to myself , so much for living in a society of free speech ! Adam this really wasn't personal !!!

I heard him say that as well tom. But what I did notice was the PA was a lot lower on Saturday. Graham had the chance before the game to do a lap of honour and thank the Preston Fans, he chose not to and to be quiet honest Graham recieved a lot of booing from Preston Fans in all stands. so why make a big deal for people just to boo him?

Adam Cotterill is amateurish and childish and does no good to the club's reputation whatsoever. Graham Alexander deserved better.

I agree Tom. Some PNE fans are not happy unless they are moaning. Thank god we didn't have an online forum in 84/85!

Who cares about Graham Alexander anyway?
If he wanted to be cheered by the fans then he shouldn`t of joined Burnley.
I personally couldn`t care less, he was a poor player, and obviously had no loyalty. He could of signed a 12 month deal and proved himself fit for another 12 month deal, but ne, he wanted the extra money.
Well i hope he invests the money wisely because if it was down to me he wouldn`t get a coaching role within the club, which he would of deserved had he not left.
