Football fans in Kirkham and Wesham are gearing up for the town's biggest test - the FA Vase final at Wembley.
Almost half the town are expected to travel to London to watch tomorrow's game.

More than 20 coaches have been booked to take over 3,000 supporters to the season finale.

*SEE The Evening Post on Monday for all the post-match reaction and pictures...plus log on to www.lep.co.uk on Sunday for up-to-date match reports from Wembley!

And dozens of local people including friends and family gathered to see off the team from outside the club shop on Poulton Street.

Since the semi final the shop has been doing a roaring trade in tickets, shirts and scarves in time for the big match.

Volunteer Debbie Manley said: "It's really exciting. People have been coming in to book their coaches and buy tickets. It's amazing that the whole of Kirkham and Wesham have come together to support the team."

And all along the town's main shopping street the windows are decked out with banners, posters and flags backing the side to victory.

At the SilverDell bookshop, staff are doing a roaring trade in Kirkham and Wesham stars - the ice cream flavour created specially for the final.

Elaine Silverwood, co-owner of the Poulton Street store, said: "Everyone is really looking forward to it. Kirkham will look pretty empty on Sunday."

A 90-year-old grandmother will also be among the crowds cheering on Kirkham and Wesham at Wembley on Sunday.

Vera Sumner will be travelling to the stadium with her family to support the non-league minnows in the biggest game of their history.

Mrs Sumner - who is a massive football fan - will be visiting Wembley Stadium for the first time on Sunday.

She told the Evening Post: "I've been living in Kirkham for 60 years and it's a great achievement for the town.

"I'm hoping it will be a good game and everyone will be cheering them on to victory.

"I saw Blackpool bring the FA Cup back in the 1950s and hopefully Kirkham will do the same tomorrow."
