A controversial military convoy carrying nuclear warheads has passed through Lancashire.
The convoy consisted of a series of military trucks including the warhead load carriers, Ministry of Defence (MoD) escort vehicles, Royal Marines in MoD minibuses and an MoD fire engine.
It was preceded and followed for several miles on the M6 by military police vehicles.
The trucks passed the Preston area at around 8.10pm on Saturday.
It is believed the warheads were being transported between the Trident nuclear base at Coulport in Scotland and the nuclear warhead factory at Burghfield near Aldermaston in Berkshire.
The vehicles, which have no radiation warning symbols, carry warheads containing plutonium and other radioactive materials.
The convoy mainly travels at night when traffic is lightest and no advance warnings are given out for security reasons.
Overnight stops are made at military bases, including Fulwood
Barracks at Preston and Weeton Barracks near Blackpool.
