A budget airline has announced it is launching a new route out of Lancashire to the Swiss city of Geneva later this year.
Jet2.com will start a weekly departure from Blackpool International Airport every Saturday from December 13 to April 18.
It is the first major new route to come to the terminal since Regional and City Airports, a division of engineering giant Balfour Beatty, completed its £14million takeover last week.
Airport chief executive David Kershaw said: "This clearly demonstrates Jet2.com's continued confidence in Blackpool and will help us achieve our aim of becoming the airport of choice for Lancashire and Cumbria.
"By offering more flights and destinations, we are encouraging people to use their local airport so that their travelling times are shorter and the start of their journey is stress-free and enjoyable.
He said there was expected to be "overwhelming demand" for the flights, which will start at £29.99.
The Squire's Gate terminal already has routes to 20 European destinations, including Ibiza, Malaga, Tenerife and Alicante, through Jet2.com.
