Defiant neighbours are refusing to be silenced amid claims their once-quiet area of Lancashire has been turned into a noisy car service area.
People living close to Discount Auto Spares in Cemetery Road, Ribbleton, Preston, say work is carried out at the garage until late into the evenings and at weekends – beyond the hours the firm is allowed to trade.
The Lancashire Evening Post told last week how garage owner Sanjay Chohan said he was losing out on business because he has to have his shutters down while carrying out repairs on cars.
But residents have hit back, saying Mr Chohan is breaching his trading conditions.
These include the workshop not being open outside 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 2pm Saturdays, carrying out only small repairs such as changing bulbs and tyres, and not opening the workshop doors while repairs take place.
Residents say cars awaiting repair at the garage were being left on the street.
Lee St Louis, of Alston Street, who lives at the back of the garage with his two young children and partner Annette, said: "This used to be a quiet street.
"Since they've opened the garage, they've been working there seven days a week.
"I've had tyres stacked outside my garage door so I couldn't get in.
"There are cars parked outside 24/7 and cars being dropped off by trucks as late as eleven at night.
"It's not even supposed to be a garage, it's supposed to be an accessories shop and a workshop – it was really specific on the planning permission."
Neil Reilly, also of Alston Road, said: "I understand that he's got a living to make, but at the weekend we just want a bit of peace."
The Lancashire Evening Post witnessed work being carried out at the workshop on Friday evening at 6.30pm – 30 minutes after it should have closed for the day.
But Mr Chohan said: "It's absolute rubbish.
"We don't work at night and we work within the hours."
On May 6, the city council gave Mr Chohan 28 days to comply with a breach of condition notice.
